Warsaw Info
Warsaw is the biggest city in Poland (over 1.5 million citizens), the capitol of Poland, but also the central point of all Poland commercial and industry markets. Here, in Warsaw, there are over 100 theatres, cinemas and museums, so Warsaw is a major place for Poland culture.
Warsaw is full of contrasts - futuristic office towers and beautiful Warsaw Old Town, international Airport Okecie and King's Castle (Zamek Krolewski), over luxury and modern hotels next to Palace in Wilanow (see photo).
Being here, we don`t always notice what is in our closest surroundings. Foreigners, who visit the capital of Poland, leave with unforgettable memories and have a strong desire to return. Meanwhile Varsovians themselves often are indifferent, not proud of the fact that they are citizens of this city. I look with envy at, for example Parisians or New Yorkers, who already, after a few months stay in those cities, stress their very fresh origins with real pride.
For six years, Warsaw has been a member of the organization Eurocities, an association of 117 largest cities on the continent. Established in 1986, the goal of Eurocities is to increase the role of cities in shaping the image and economy of a united Europe. The organization exerts enormous influence on guidelines for the European Union's structural policy and the policy concerning cohesion funds.
